(Netherlands).- The Netherlands is crowned the top online gambling capital of Europe, as a new study reveals the top ten European countries that are gambling, betting, and playing casinos online.

European countries choose online gambling, study reveals

iGaming experts at new online casinos site Kongebonus analysed search volume data for a list of terms in every European country, from the UK to Serbia, to discover the continent’s online gambling capitals. The countries were ranked from most to least searches per 100,000 of the population to create a fair and final ranking.

Topping the ranking for Europe’s online gambling hotspots is the Netherlands, where gamblers search online a staggering 1,045 times a month per 100,000 people. The Netherlands Google ‘internet casino’ more than any European country, with 114,792 monthly searches.

In second place is Jersey, where gamblers search to play online 915 times a month per 100,000 residents. Jersey’s number one searched term was for ‘online slots’ at 173 monthly searches.

Malta is in third place, where online gamblers accumulate 825 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Maltese gamblers also search for ‘internet casinos’ more than any other term, with 2,138 searches a month.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is ranked fourth with an average of 700 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. The country’s most Googled term is ‘bingo’, which gathers a staggering 20,695 monthly searches.

Ranking fifth is Sweden, gathering 696 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Sweden’s second most searched gambling term is ‘poker’, seeing 3,888 monthly searches.

The United Kingdom is Europe’s sixth-biggest online gambling capital, as the nation sees 669 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Britons search for ‘betting’ a staggering 87,348 times a month on average.

Czechia, also known as the Czech Republic, gathers 442 monthly searches for online gambling per 100,000 people, placing the country in seventh. Here, the third most searched term is ‘online poker’, with 2,458 monthly searches.

Ranking eighth is Iceland, with 422 monthly searches per 100,000 residents. Iceland is another country where the top search is for ‘casinos’, at 658 monthly searches.

In ninth place is Ireland, accumulating an average of 404 monthly searches per 100,000 people. Irish gamblers search for ‘bet sites’ 2,792 times a month.

Just making the list for Europe’s online gambling capitals is Switzerland, where gamblers search 365 times a month on average per 100,000 residents. Swiss gamblers also prefer playing online casinos, searching for ‘casino’ 26,517 times a month and ‘internet casino’ 17,642 times a month.

Jorunn Langli, a spokesperson for new online casinos site Kongebonus has commented on the findings: “It is interesting to see Jersey in second place, with such a high volume of searches per 100,000 people, as the country is such a small island. This can also be said for Malta in third, another online gambling capital, which is a small European island nation.

“The online gambling market is growing year on year, with it now being as accessible as ever for players to gamble, bet, and play online. The rise of virtual casinos means people can participate in their favourite games without stepping foot in a real casino, like online poker, roulette, blackjack, bingo, lotteries, and slot machines.”
