(Buenos Aires).- ASAP, logistics operator of SAGSE, presents a compelling report on the growth of Argentine foreign trade in both exports and imports. Read the full article for more details.

The growth of Argentine foreign trade in 2025 explained by ASAP

According to ASAP, Argentine foreign trade continues to grow, with an increment in both exports and imports. In January 2025, trade reached USD 11.638 billion , reflecting a year-over-year increase of 16.3%

Exports totaled USD 5.89 billion , with a growth of 9.1% compared to January 2024. This increase was mainly due to a 12.5% increase in quantities sold , while prices registered a drop of 2.9%

Imports reached USD 5.748 billion , 24.6% more than the same month last year. Quantities increased by 37% , but prices decreased by 9% , reflecting increased demand for physical goods with lower unit costs.

Exports: growth driven by higher volumes

The increase in exports was driven by several key sectors. Industrial products (IMO) reached USD 1.418 billion, up 16.4%, with growth in precious stones and metals standing out. Agricultural products (AMO) totaled USD 2.069 billion, up 11.4%, mainly due to increased sales of fats and oils.

The fuel and energy (FEE) sector grew significantly, reaching USD 879 million, with crude oil as the main driver of the increase. In contrast, primary products (PP) were the only sector to decline, falling 5.4% due to an 11.7% drop in prices despite an increase in sales.

Imports: strong growth in capital and consumer goods

The increase in imports is explained by an increase in the quantity of goods purchased, with a drop in prices that favored access to imported inputs and products.

Capital goods (CG) were the fastest-growing item, up 52.8%, reflecting increased investment in machinery and production equipment. Consumer goods (CG) grew 47.5%, driven by a 45.7% increase in purchased quantities.

Purchases of parts and accessories for capital goods (P&A) increased by 29.4%, with a 52.6% increase in volume, reflecting increased activity in industrial sectors that depend on imported inputs.

Among imported products, there was a sharp increase in the purchase of vehicles and auto parts, fuels and lubricants, and pharmaceutical and immunological products. A 122.6% increase in purchases through courier services was also observed, a trend that continues to rise.

Conclusion: dynamic and expanding foreign trade

The growth in exports and imports reflects an active market, with greater availability of goods and expansion in strategic sectors. While exports benefited from increased trade volumes, imports registered a strong increase in capital and consumer goods, which could indicate greater dynamism in industry and domestic trade.

ASAP Americas closely monitors these trends to provide strategic logistics solutions that enable companies to operate more efficiently in a constantly evolving foreign trade environment.
